PHILLY SPORTS CORNER- PHILLIES, SIXERS, NFL NEWS

- The Phillies snapped their six-game winning streak, losing in Atlanta 2-1. They had chances, but once again, hit poorly with runners in scoring position.

Odubel Herrera hit a firs tinning homer last night, but made two stupid plays to negate his efforts. First he didn't slide on a double attempt. The next inning he shied away from a fly ball. Right fielder Aaron Altherr needed to bail him out with a  tremendous catch.

Herrera is a good talent, but he is a stupid, lazy player. He will never change, no matter how much manager Kapler talks to him. GM Klentek should've traded him in the off-season for pitching help and to open an outfield spot.

Another wasted effort by Aaron Nola. The team continues to strike out too much, most notably Franco.

The Phillies are now 9-6 and play the braves again tonight with Nick Pavetta on the mound.

- The Sixers likewise snapped their 17-game winning streak, losing to Miami. It was only their second home loss since Christmas.

They lived by the 3-point shot and last night they died by the 3-point shot, making only 6 of 32 3-pointers at one point. Still, they climbed back from a 16-point deficit in the 4th quarter to within two, before fading.

The 76ers should still beat the Heat in this series, but now they have made it harder on themselves. The team never does play well in Miami, where the next two games will be held.

Joel Embiid is frustrated that he didn't play. He feels the Sixers medical staff is babying him. I see him playing this Thursday. So much for the idiots who felt Embiid shouldn't play while the winning streak was going on.

Game Three is Thursday night in Miami.

- We should know today for sure if the NFL schedule will be released Thursday night, as rumored.  Other than the NFC East games, I'll be interested to see when the big match-up with the Rams will occur. I also look for who will play on thanksgiving, a favorite day to watch football.  Will the giants play at Dallas the opening weekend, as in the last two seasons? Will the Eagles play the cowboys in the final game of the season again? In Philly or in Dallas/

- Speaking of Dallas, they host the draft next week. It will be interesting to see how they fare against the overwhelming success in Philadelphia last night. Will the birds trade down and not have a Thursday night pick? If Nick Foles isn't traded, I do expect a trade down, as the Eagles need more selections in the second and third rounds.
