PHILLY SPORTS CORNER- PHILLIES, FLTERS, SIXERS

- The Phillies lost the series to Arizona yesterday afternoon, losing 8-2. They remain only 1/2 game behind the Mets for first place in NL East. By losing 2 of 3 to the league-leading Diamondbacks, the Phils aren't quite ready for prime-time yet.

- Pitcher Ben Lively needs to do better as the No. 5 starter. Jared Eichoff will be off the disabled list soon. So will Mark Leiter Jr., another potential starter. Zach Eflin is only a phone call away from Lehigh Valley.

The Phils start a weekend series with the Braves tonight. Atlanta is lurking only a game behind the Phillies. Meanwhile the Mets travel to San Diego this weekend before flying cross-country again and returning home.

- The Flyers are so out of touch, from Claude Giroux blaming the fans for booing the team to GM Ron Hexstall arrogantly stating that he is pleased with his coaches and only a "handful of fans" feel there should be a coaching change, only a :handful" who were displeased with the effort against Pittsburgh in the playoffs.

- The Sixers continue to rest until Monday night, when they start their second round playoff series. Boston and Milwaukee face-off in Game 7 of their series on Saturday night. If Milwaukee wins on Saturday they travel to Philly on Monday night. If the Celtics win the 76ers go to Boston Garden. The Bucks may be the more manageable team of the two for the Sixers, while the Celts are tradition. and despite injuries, are the more dangerous team .

- Another stupid move by Major League Baseball, putting yet another Phillies game on Facebook. Why not have Thursday afternoons' Diamondback game  on TV as well? Clearly, this Facebook crap is a gimmick intended for millinials who don't care about baseball anyway and think it's boring and slow.

Way to piss of your most loyal fans, baseball. Philadelphia's Thursday afternoon game on Mat 10 vs San Francisco will also be  exclusively on Facebook.
