PHILLY SPORTS CORNER- PHILLIES, EAGLES, SIXERS

- The Phillies looked flat as they lost to the Braves Saturday night. They remain only 1/2 game behind the Mets for first place in NL East, since New York lost big in San Diego. Atlanta, which has beaten the Phils  5 of 8 times this early season, creeps to only a game in back of Philadelphia.

- Odubel Herrera made an incredible catch to rob Freddie Freeman of a center field home run. leaping up and snatching the ball from over the fence. Give Herrera credit- other then his usual mental lapses on the bases, he has played well so far, All-Star caliber play.

- Looks like J.P. Crawford will be heading to the disabled list soon with a strained right elbow. Does that mean Scott Kingery will finally play everyday at SS? The team is second in the majors in errors. They clearly miss steady Freddie Galvis.

- The Eagles completed their 2018 draft by selecting a corner back, a defensive end, an offensive tackle and n Australian rugby player who has never played American football in his life. All iu all, a goodd raft, with tight end Dallas Goedert the second round show-piece. The re-signing of RB Darren Sproles solves the need for another running back, plus Sproles will also solve the punt returner problem. Sproles gives the Eagles a home run-hitter in special teams.

- Undrafted free agents will fill out the roster as rookie work-out camps begin this week.

- The fans got who they wanted. The Sixers will travel to Boston Monday night to face the hated Celtics in the playoffs.Game 3 will be in Philly next Saturday night . I like the Sixers in 6, despite Boston having home court advantage. The Celts have too many injuries and the 76ers are playing too well.
