PHILLIES PHODDER-KAPLER'S DISASTER

Dear Phillies Management,

I'm totally embarrassed by the disastrous weekend by new manager Gabe Kapler and the Phillies.
I have invested much into this season- money, time and my heart. Don't allow it to be ruined by an inexperienced, unqualified guy like Kapler. Fire him sooner than later before more damage is done to this young team, both physically and emotionally.

We are the laughing stock of baseball. Matt Klentak, remove this idiot. Show the fans some guts. Andy MacPhail, do something. Over-rule Klentak if he does nothing. If need be, fire Klentak too, as he pushed for Kapler instead of Pete Mackanin.

Most of all, do something! For the fans...

- I'm glad media guys like Angelo Cataldi, and Howard Eskin, and writers like Todd Zelecki and Jim Salsbury, are questioning Kapler and Klentak.  Keep the heat on! Klentak needs to talk soon and explain why he even hired Kapler in the first place.

This guy is over-matched and over-manages. But he doesn't really "manage". He is so into analytics, common sense is out the window. Common sense like leaving your ace in a 5-0 game, in the sixth inning, in the season opener, with only 68 pitches, while he is cruising with a shut-out. common sense is a basic Baseball 101 move of warming up a bullpen pitcher before you call for that pitcher to enter the game.

Speaking of which, kudos to umpire Jerry Layne for allowing Hoby Milner to toss a few pitches on Saturday night before taking the mound. he didn't have to cover for the Phillies' manager, but he also didn't want Milner to hurt himself. The embarrassment of the fiasco is punishment enough.

Common sense as says you don't use 21 pitchers in 28 innings, including using a position player to pitch for the first time so early in a season since 1924. Common sense also says you don't say after the game that you would do all this bullshit again, and get ready for more.

So much promise was ahead this summer. Middleton ( who can't be happy) invested big money into Santana, Arrieta and Kingery. I'm disappointed and embarrassed by the team's lackluster effort, their poor fundamentals, and the confusion and disorganization, all a reflection of the manager.

-Barring the weather, the Phillies play the Mets in New York tonight. It's like watching a train wreck. Even though Villanova plays for the national championship this evening, Philly fans will tune into the baseball game to see what ridiculous events will happen.

- Thursday is the home opener in Philadelphia. citizens Bank Park should be alive and chilly. If this nonsense continues, will Kapler be lustily booed during introductions and thru-out the game?More humiliation.

Washington has won it's first three games. Getting back to baseball, it's important for the Phillies to start playing good ball so they don't get blown out of the box. The Phils are last in National League East only three games in.

- When will the players jump ship on Kapler? Maybe only then will that force managements' hand.

- I'm willing to give analytics a chance. But Kapler and Klentak have gone way over-board. Isn't there a way to blend both?

- I love the Phillies, and really do have a lot invested into this season, but hoping the team loses ( which would force the removal of Kapler, and maybe Klentak)may be best. Has Kapler already lost the clubhouse? The players- especially the bullpen- have to be wondering. Kapler is losing the fan base already, judging by the way I feel and reaction form fans around the city on talk radio.

So much for selling tickets this summer.

- Let's not forget that Matt Klentak traded Ken Giles for Vince Valasquez. Valasquez is a head-case who doesn't know how to pitch. He is a back-of-the-bullpen pitcher, if anything. Another Klentak blunder.

- Finally, good times have blessed Philly in sports recently. Of course, the Eagles won the Super bowl. The Sixers are riding a 10-game winning streak for the first time since 2001. The Flyers are ready to clinch a playoff berth.  The Phillies are a laughing stock of baseball and of sports. Anti-Philadelphia critics ( especially in New York) are  smiling . Middleton/MacPhail/Klentek have the power to change all of this now. It's not too late  to save the season....
