- The Phillies evened their series in Atlanta, winning 5-1 in 10 innings. Scott Kingery was in the middle of the game-winning rally. The rubber game is tonight with the braves before the Phils finally come home to host the Pirates on Thursday night.
- Why is Carlos Santana not getting a night off/ He is still struggling, hitting around .150 and hitting second in the line-up. Why not play Rhys Hoskins at first, or drop Santana lower? So far he has been a rally-killer and a free agent bust. Long way to go in the season, but for now, sit Santana or bat him 5th or lower.
- Kapler was fortunate the Phils scored 4 runs in the 10th inning. He ran out of available position players, after pinch-hitting Jorge Alfaro in the 9th inning. Sooner or later, not having an extra guy on the bench is going to hurt.
- Give Kapler credit for going against the book and pitching closer Hector Neris in the 9th inning of a tie-game on the road. Usually a road team will hold back it's closer until they have a lead. Instead, Neris held down the fort and Drew Hutchinson closed the game in the 110th.
- The Flyers play Game 4 of their playoff series vs the Penguins tonight in South Philly. It's a must-win. going down 3-1 to the defending world champs, and heading back to Pittsburgh, would not be good. If the pattern holds, the Orange and Black will come out with a strong effort tonight.
- Still unsure if Joel Embiid will play tomorrow night in Miami as the Sixers continue their playoff series with the Heat. If he is OK to play he should. I get it that the Sixers' medical staff want to protect Jojo form long-term injury but it is the playoffs. It doesn't matter that the 76ers won 10 in a row without Embiid. The playoffs are a different animal. The games are more intense and teams play harder.
- The NFL schedule is released Thursday night at 8 p.m. Parts of the schedule usually leak during the day. I'll be looking for the dates of the NFC East games, the big rematch with the rams in LA., and the date of the London game vs Jacksonville. Will the team be on prime-time the maximum six times this season?
