Two days away from the big game- Eagles vs. Patriots. more notes..
* This Super Bowl run by the Birds has been fun. Win or lose on Sunday. Aside from the actual games, the response from the community has been amazing. All of the parties, chants of the Eagles' Fight Song, schools and nursing homes, office parties and pep rallies.
One of my favorite stories is a real bird- singing the Birds' Fight Song. A local parrot was featured on the news this week. not only did the bird sing the fight song, he recited "E-A-G-L-E-S" at the end.
I can only imagine how jam-packed the local bars and restaurants will be this weekend. Countless house parties. All the food, drinks and celebrating. People taking Monday off.Fun stuff to be savored.
After the Eagles win, there's so much more to come. The monumental parade down Broad Street, Eagles talk 24/7 on WIP Sports Radio, Eagles' merchandise flying off the shelves at every sporting goods store and online. A championship to love, not only until we defend in September, but forever. The home opener next season when the players get their rings and the Super bowl world title is raised at Lincoln Financial Field.
One of the best- and most agonizing- things about sports is the drama. If we win it changes our lives forever. If we lose, it's wait til next season with Carson Wentz.
Sports is such a big part of our lives. not just a meaningless game. Sports builds memories that link families, friends and even strangers together. Ten, twenty, fifty years from now, people will be saying "Remember that first Super Bowl championship?..."
It's awesome to think that Sunday could be a landmark, life-changing day for so many people in our area. World Champion Eagles! Hard to believe, like we are living a dream, but so true. The perfect storybook ending to a magical season. A team of destiny.
* Along with the good Super Bowl hype and the heart-warming stories, comes the stupid too. Like Channel 6's so-called sports director Duces Rodgers asking Eagles running back Jay Ajayi if his British accent is real or fake.I guess it was supposed to be funny or quirky, but it came off just plain dumb.
I admire reporters like Howard Eskin, who actually give honest opinions, not just read off scores and show the same highlights you can see on ESPN or online. The local news reporters have been in Minneapolis all week, and I guess they may be running out of story ideas.
This is my first time i visit here and I found so many interesting stuff in your blog especially it's discussion. thank you.
