PHILLY SPORTS CORNER- EAGLES, FLYERS, SIXERS, PHILLIES

* The Eagles lost coaches John DeFillipo and Frank Reich over the weekend. Quarterback coach DeFillipo went to Minnesota in a similar position, and Reich was signed by Indianapolis to be their head coach. Both will be missed.

DeFillipo was blocked from talking to the Jets last off-season. This time the Birds didn't stand in his way. DeFillipo was a big part of Carson Wentz' emergence as a top-flight QB. Would Nick Foles follow him to the Vikings? (more on this later).

Meanwhile, Reich goes to the mess called the Colts.Good luck, Frank. Who knows if or ever QB Andrew Luck will return.

Will Duce Staley be promoted to offensive coordinator? Or will he fly to the Jets, as rumored?

I'm not too worried about the losses. It seems that Reich was very instrumental in the Eagles' offensive success, but Doug Pederson still calls the plays.

I still think the Eagles should keep Foles, but I'm starting to waver a bit. Foles is great insurance in case Wentz isn't ready in September. Foles has another year left on his contract. His value will never be higher, after being named the MVP of the Super Bowl. I can see the fickle Philly fans bitching as soon as Wentz has a bad game. "We want Foles!"

Wentz is younger, more talented and the future. There should be no doubt who the QB should be. But can Wentz really flourish with Foles hovering around him?

It's not Foles' fault. I think he would be content  holding a clipboard on the sidelines, ready to fill-in if needed at any time.

GM Howie Rossman should listen to offers for Foles. but anything less than a high first rounder should be dismissed. Is it worth giving up the best back-up quarterback in the NFL for a second or third round draft pick?

The Birds pick at No. 32 in the draft in April. They don't have a second or third round selection. They do have two picks on both the fourth and fifth rounds. So, Rossman may be tempted to supplement his picks by dealing Foles.

* The Flyers played the expansion team Vegas Golden Knights for the first-time ever last night, beating the Knights  4-1. Vegas leads the entire Western Conference. The Orange and Black won their fourth game in a row. They start a five-game home stand on Tuesday night against the Devils.

* Isn't it ironic that both the flyers and Sixers haven't lost a game since the Eagles won the Super Bowl? The Sixers go for four straight victories tonight at home vs. the struggling New York Knicks.

* Two more days until pitchers and catchers report to spring training. Looking at the list of free agents still on the market, three former Phillies stick out- Chase Utley, Jayson Werth and Carlos Ruiz. I can see Utley and Ruiz retiring if they can't hook up with a team. Ruiz would be a great addition to the Phillies' organization, especially with the Latin players. New manager Gabe Kapler worked with Utley in LA, so if Chase reties, would Kapler bring him on as well?

If the Phils' outfield wasn't so crowded, i wouldn't be opposed to adding Werth as a veteran presence on the club. Wetrh can still hit, add power from the bench, and still plays decent defense.
