CHIRPING BIRDS- MORE SUPER BOWL NOTES

Even more Super Bowl notes...

* The Patriots sure are a bunch of sore losers. Brady and Belichek both gave the Eagles little or no credit for the New England loss, calling the Birds merely a "good team." Instead, the coach and media blamed coaching decisions, their poor kicking game and the refs for the defeat.

New England and it's arrogant fans feel entitled after five Super Bowl titles under Brady and Belichek. They are shocked they lost. Some fans around Boston were asking for a Patriot blow-out win, so they wouldn't have to be anxious as they were last year against Atlanta.  Even the idea of losing to the lowly, underdog Eagles, with a back-up quarterback no less, was inconceivable.

Now, it's fair to ask if the New England dynasty is over. Vegas doesn't think so: The Patriots are the early favorite to win the Super Bowl in 2019, with odds at 9-2

Brady is 40-years-old. He has a great game last night, passing for over 500 yards. The Birds couldn't slow him down until the final two New England possessions. We will know more in the fall. Certainly Brady should be hungry again, with a chip on his shoulder to redeem his legacy and the Pats' dynasty status.

Until then, the Patriots, along with every other NFL team, need to accept the fact that the Philadelphia Eagles are the best football team in the world.

* Speaking of odds, the Birds are listed as 6-1 in Vegas to win back-to-back Super bowls. They were 40-1 going into this season. I picked them to go 10-6 this year, but many respected football gurus had them at 8-8 at best, last in the NFC East.

The Steelers are 8-1 to win the big game.

One anonymous  bettor cashed in last night. He bet $3 million on the Eagles to win. It is the same bettor who waged one million dollars  on the Houston Astros to win the World series over the Dodgers. He/she is either very lucky, very smart or knows something.

* The parade will be on Thursday, starting at 11 a.m. Tomorrow is too soon for the plans to come together. Wednesday's weather forecast is for snow/rain mix all day. Thursday will be sunny but seasonably cold.

The parade is due to take the opposite route of the 2008 Phillies championship parade. The Eagles' parade will start at the Linc and wind down Broad Street to the Art Museum. It will be an iconic scene, near the famed Rocky status, defiled by Viking fans, the scene of the NFL draft last spring. It will be a once-in-a-lifetime event, with millions of fans lining the streets and jam-packed near the Art Museum.

Will anybody go to work or school on Thursday? Why not close shop everywhere in the Delaware Valley and allow fans to enjoy the moment?

* Super Bowl championship gear is flying off the shelves. I'm getting mine tomorrow. Expect to pay hefty prices for caps, t-shirts and hoodies, but how often do the Eagles win the Super Bowl?
