Eagle Fact: Big Hits and Hitters
There is nothing Eagle fans enjoy more than a big hit so thunderous that we can feel it in the stands. The players we root for the most tend to be the hardest hitters, primarily on defense.
With special fondness I remember dfensive linemen Bucko Kilroy, Claude Humphrey, Big Daddy Hairston, Jerome Brown, Clyde Simmons and Reggie White; linebackers Chuck Bednarik, Maxie Baughan, Bill Bergey, Seth Jotner and Jeremiah Trotter; and defensive backs Tom Brookshier, Irv Cross, Nate Ramsey, Andre Waters, Wes Hopkins and Brian Dawkins.
Answers to yesterday's quiz- Eagle Rookies-
1. John Reaves in 1972. Reaves threw for 1.508 yards along with seven touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
2. Cody Parkey scored 150 points on 34 field goals and 54 extra points in 2014.
3. Corell Buckhalter held the mark with 586 yards in 2000.
