* 2008 postseason Phillies facts:

- The Phillies won the first game of every playoff series and never trailed in a series once.. In fact, when the Phillies lost to the Yankees in the 2009 World Series, it was the first time they had trailed in a playoff series in two seasons- they were 18-5 in five series at that point.

- In 2008 the Phils' 92 wins were second best to the Cubs in the national League and a total of four teams had a better record.

- The Phillies beat the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2008 NLDS, defeating the brew Crew 3 games to 1. It was their first playoff series victory since 1993. Shane Victorino's grand slam in Game Two off C. C. Sabathia was the highlight of the series.

- They played the  Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series, and crushed them, 4 games to 1, to advance to the World Series. Matt Stair's eighth-inning home run  in Game four in LA will always be remembered as the magical moment in that series.

- The Phillies went on to win their second world championship by beating the Tampa Bay (Devil) Rays, 4 games to 1. A rain-delayed clinching Game Five- including Pat Burrell's game-winning seventh-inning double, highlighted a game that took several days to finish.
