Art Mahaffey Facts:
- Mahaffey was a 22-year-old rookie for the Phils in 1960, when he finished third in the Rookie of the Year voting with a 2.31 ERA and earned All-Star appearances in the following two seasons.
- In 1963 Mahaffey began to experience arm problems from which he would never fully recover.
- Mahaffey was on the mound in 1964 on the night the Phillies lost the first of 10 straight games that ended their dreams of a pennant. He remained with the Phillies for one more season and his career was over at age 28.
