On February 20, 1998, 15-year-old Tara Lipinski and Michelle Kwan gave the United States its first 1-2 finish in Olympic women's figure skating since Albright and Heiss in 1956.

Lipinski's flawless free-skate and infectious smile captured the long program, the gold medal, and the hearts of millions.
