Here's a preview of Week 2 in the NFL. But first, a wrap-up of the Thursday Night Game..
Bengals over Ravens-
Cincinnati went 2-0, with QB Andy Dalton throwing 4 touchdowns in the first half alone. Baltimore came off a 47-7 win over Buffalo, going 1-1. They look like another inconsistent team. I still don't like Marvin Lewis, the Bengal coach, but they are off to a good start. Next week, Baltimore plays host to Denver while the undefeated Bengals go on the road the next two weeks, first to Carolina then to Atlanta
Panthers at Falcons-
Carolina (1-0) in a division game against Atlanta ( 0-1). Interesting game. The Falcons can't afford to start off 0-2, losing two NFC games. The Panthers go home next week to face Cincinnati while Atlanta then hosts New Orleans. The NFC South looks to shape up quickly.I like Atlanta to rebound.
Colts at Redskins-
Andrew Luck is back, which gives the Colts a chance. They take on the "Skins at Washington before coming to Philly. The Redskins won in the desert last week, trying to go 2-0 and stay with the Eagles. They have Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay next week at home.As much as I hate to see it, I think the "Skins win their home opener.
Texans at Titans-
Two teams in need of a won to avoid going 0-2. Houston gave New England a battle last week on the road, now they play in Tennessee.I'm still not sold on Mariota and the titans so I'm picking Houston in an upset.
Eagles at Buccaneers-
Philly 31-16. Looks like DeSean Jackson will play, giving the Bucs two dangerous weapons tot terrorize the Birds'secondary. But I can't see the world champions and Foles losing to an average team like Tampa Bay, even in Florida.
Lions at 49ers-
The Lions sucked in all phases of the game on Monday Night against the Jets. now they hit the road to San Francisco to take on an 0-1 Niners squad. Detroit has the Patriots at home next week, so this may bw a must-win in order to avoid 0-3. SF goes to KC and and the Chargers after this, so I see a 49ers win.
Cardinals at Rams-
LA looks great , and not only on paper, and now they have their home opener against a lowly Arizona team. The Rams face cross-town rivals Chargers next week. It could be a let down trap game, but I don't think so. Arizona has the Bears and Seahawks at home the next two weeks, so a win in LA would be big. I see the Rams winning big.
Giants at Cowboys-
Battle of two loser on Sunday night Football. Loser falls to 0-2 and is in early trouble. I'm rooting for the Giants, as they have a brutal early schedule, plus a home loss for Dallas is always a plus. Will the cowboys show more weapons than Elliot if New York shuts down the running game> I see the Giants winning in Texas.
Chiefs a tSteelers-
Really interesting game, as the Chiefs play their second road game, after beating the chargers in Los Angeles last week. Pittsburgh needs a win, especially after they tied with Cleveland in Week 1. I expect the Steelers tow in but it won't be easy. How will rookie KC QB react in Pittsburgh?
Dolphins at Jets-
One of these teams will be a surprising 2-0, giving New England some early competition in AFC East. Miami has Oakland in Florida next week while the Jets head to Cleveland and could be looking at a 3-0 start if they win this week.
Chargers at Bills-
LA flies across the country, and there's the time difference issue. Could be worse- not cold in Buffalo yet. Chargers don't want a repeat of last year, when they lost big early, came on late, but was too lat o make the playoffs. Tough game to call, as Buffalo is tough to beat at home.
Vikings at Packers-
A real test for Minnesota at Green Bay against Aaron Rodgers. Do the Pack still have what it takes to pull off a win?Always tough to win a tLambeau Field, but there was a reason why Green Bay got down 20-0 to Chicago last week. I wouldn't be surprised to see a Minnesota win The Vikes have the Bills at home next week before a huge two-game road trip to the Rams and the Eagles. The Pack head to Washington next week.
Browns at Saints-
Really expect the Brownies not to lose two weeks in a row? Plus New Orleans can't afford another home loss so early in the season. Saints win and cover
Patriots at Jaguars-
Rematch of AFC Championship Game. Will the Jags get revenge? I think they play well enough to win, in a low-scoring, defensive-minded game.
Raiders at Broncos-
Denver needs to win this division home game before travelling to Baltimore next weekend. The Gruden-led Raiders must avoid an 0-2 start, as they stay on the road to Miami next week.
Seahawks at Bears
Chicago looked unbeatable last Monday Night vs Green Bay before choking to Aaron Rodgers. yet another road game for Seattle before their home opener vs. Denver. Will they be 0-2 even before their home opener? I think they win in Chicago.
