Where were you 17 years ago today, on September 11th, 2001, when the two World Trades Centers were hit in new York City?
i was at work and was informed of the attack while on the phone with a resident's family member who, during the conversation remarked, 'Isn't a shame about the building in New York getting hit by a plane?"
I thought "What building?" and "What plane?" The Empire State Building immediately came to mind, and the thoughts of a small plane crashing into the massive structure, which has happened before. Never in my wildest dreams would I imagine the destruction and devastation I witnessed when I went to the lounge area where other workers had gathered to watch the stunning reports.
All day we listened for updates, especially the rumors that all of the United States was under siege, not knowing what to expect next. And naturally I thought of the hell of what had to be going on in New York City.
When I got home I followed the sad news all evening of bodies being pulled out of the smoky rubble, the grieving families, the survivors and first-responders.
It's been 17 long years already. Hopefully the memories, painful as they be, never fade. Today I'm thinking of and praying for the deceased, the injured, the families, the emergency personnel, and the horrified citizens, and our America, and how we didn't let terror and the coward terrorist win in the end.

Hurricane Florence, predicted to hit the east coast this weekend, slamming into the Carolinas and Virgina, is expected to be a major storm. praying for people down south, who need to leave the area and be safe.
Hopefully the storm doesn't veer north to us, as we sure don't need the heavy, torrential rain and wind and total destruction.
Floods would be a concern. The ground is already so saturated. Winds roaring up to 140 MPH are no joke, and massive power outages are a deep concern, going weeks without food,, water and electricity.
We will get thru it, but everyone needs to stay safe.
