The Eagles are 1-1 and back home this week after an upset loss in Tampa last Sunday. QB Carson Wentz makes his long-awaited return and has been given the OK form the docs to play.
The Colts are also 1-1, beating the Redskins in Washington. QB Andrew Luck is back and playing well. New coach Frank Reich, ex-Eagle coach, has totally changed the team.
Philly is a 7 point favorite on Sunday. They will still be without key weapons such as Jeffery and Ajayi, maybe even Sproles. They need to use re-signed vet Matthews and rookie Goedart.
As always, turnovers will be key. I see the Birds riding the emotion of the fans, getting an early lead and rolling with the momentum. It will either be a tight, tense duel between Wentz and Luck or the Birds will swamp the Colts- no in-between.
The Eagles, losing a game they should've won, need to stockpile the victories early, before their schedule gets tougher later. Certainly, winning this week against Indianapolis, and next week at Tennessee, will be mandatory before their huge NFC Championship Game rematch with Minnesota on October 7 ( I'll be at the Linc for the Viking game).
I can't see Philadelphia losing this home game to an inferior opponent. yes, they always have trouble with AFC teams. But not this week. The defense will step up, put pressure on Luck, and shut down the Indy running game.
Make it Eagles 23 Colts 10
