PHILLY SPORTS CORNER- EAGLES, PHILLIES

* Eagle WR Torrey Smith was traded to Carolina yesterday. Here are my thoughts..

- Smith gave the offense a break-away speedy receiver to keep defenses honest. He dropped some balls but was a deep-play threat. He was reportedly a good guy in the locker room. The Eagles traded him for salary cap reasons.Carolina gets the veteran wide-out they need.

- They picked up a young corner back named Daryl Worley. Worley is 23 and played 14 games for the Panthers. Worley's arrival may mean Ronald Darby gets dealt in the future.

- With WRs Smith and Marcus Johnson gone, Mack Hollins will assume a bigger role next season. I also look for the birds to draft a burner wide receiver/kick returner, such as Christian Kirk.

- Expect more moves this week as free agency draws near.  Who will be back and who will walk? Peters, Buton, Blount, Bradham, Curry, Celek.. Foles..all could go or stay.

* The Phillies snapped their four-game winning streak yesterday, losing to Pittsburgh. They play the Rays in Clearwater today.

* Tommy Joseph and Scott Kingery are having great springs so far. Rhys Hoskins is coming around, and Aaron Altherr has had a solid camp. Otherwise, the regulars really haven't hit that well in Florida. Franco, Herrera, Williams, Crawford, Herrnandez, all in funks. They still have three weeks to get straightened out before the season starts in Atlanta.

* Hulk Hogan, who live sin Clearwater, stopped by Phillies camp yesterday.

The Flyers try to end their five-game losing streak this afternoon at home vs Winnipeg.
