CHIRPING BIRDS-MORE FREE AGENT TALK

* The Birds are signing DT Haloti Ngata to a 1-year contract. He is probably past his prime, after spending nine seasons with Baltimore and three years with the Lions. He is an early-down run-stuffer. He's been injury-prone, tearing a bicep in Week 5 last year and was on the injured-reserved list.  He is 34-years-old.

I like the move. They signed Chris Long to a similar deal last off-season. It looks like Beau Allen will go. Suddenly, Philly is a destination for veteran players to go and try and win right away.

Imagine the defensive line now. Cox, Jerrigans, Graham, Barnett, Bennett, and possibly Long. Add Ngata to the mix and opposing quarterbacks have to be shuttering.

* TE Trey Burton is signing with the Chicago Bears, reportedly for a four-year deal at $8 million a year. That's a lot of money, but good for Burton. Obviously Chicago wants to give their young QB weapons and Burton is an up-and-coming guy.
