Recently I was the victim of a computer hacking. With a lot of help I have recovered but allow me to pass along some valuable advice so you don't go through the same things I did...
* Don't give out your Social Security number.
* Call your bank and credit if you suspect you have been scammed. Freeze your accounts as soon as possible.
* Don't give remote access to anyone on your computer. Don't give them easy access to find your information and plant viruses.
* Make sure you have a good anti-virus protection on your computer. I have Norton. Let them help you.
* Change your passwords and keep them hidden.
* Block all phone numbers you don't recognize. Delete and mark as spam unfamiliar emails. Better yet, don't open anything you're not sure of.
* If it doesn't feel right, be leery. Listen to your gut, that little voice inside. Don't necessarily trust someone who says they are going to "help" you.
* Use common sense and don't be stupid as I was. believe that bad people are out there, and even if you are minding your own business they will look to exploit you. Don't allow yourself to be duped. Protect your accounts, your privacy and your information. If you feel it can never happen to you, your wrong. It can.
