* The Sixers came up small in their home opener, losing to Boston by 10 points. The team looked tired, especially Joel Embiid. They take too many three-point shots. Other than J.J. Reddick, they can't shoot.
Embiid needs to stay in the low-post rather then take 3-point shots all night. So far, Markelle Fultz doesn't impress me. He can't shoot either, plus bugger guards, like Washington's John Wall are manhandling him.
Ben Simmons can't shoot either. He runs the floor well( when the Sixers run, which isn't enough) . You knew what you were getting in Simmons when you drafted him. He can't shoot beyond 15 feet. He doesn't shoot free throws well. He's athletic and has potential, but you knew his shortcomings.
Dario Sarac can't shoot ( does this sound familiar?). He doesn't look comfortable coming off the bench yet.
It's early and the Sixers are only 0-2. but there are troubling signs. I know, the team is young. It will take a while for everyone to play well together. But with the early tough schedule- most of the first 20 game son the road- Philly seems to be braced to getoff to a rocky start.
The 76'ers are expected to win now.In the past, losing to the Celtics last night was OK, even encouraged by the organization. No big deal, trust the process.. But it's different now. The Wells Fargo center is sold-out (celebrities like M. Night Shymalan and Samuel L. Jackson were courtside)The Sixers are expected to win, at least by the coach and the fans. Sixers management could care less, as long as they are making money.
Coach Brett Brown has been a good soldier for four years, suffering thru losing seasons and embarrassment. Now it's time to see if he can t\coach talent. If he can't, or if the team doesn't respond, I know the front office will kick him to the curb and GM Brian Colangelo will bring in one of his guys to coach.
Embiid won't play tonight, a back-to-back game at Toronto. Make it 0-3.
Is Embiid out of shape? He looks exhausted after a few minutes. All of this minutes-limit crap has to burden Embiid, Brown and the rest of the team.
Just let him play. Don't baby him anymore.
I'm still excited about the season. But last night was a reminder that the Sixers have a long way to go.

* The Astros tied the American League Championship Series, 3-3, with the Yankees, beating them 7-1 in Houston Friday night. That sets up the deciding Game 7 tonight. Houston should win at home. or will it be a classic Yankees-Dodgers World series? The Dodgers wait the winner.Game 1 of the World Series begins Tuesday night in Los Angeles.

* Zeke Elliot continues to appeal his six-game suspension. Eventually he will serve his time. Why he doesn't just suck it up and take his punishment is beyond me. But the longer he puts off the suspension, the better for the Eagles. He should miss their first match-up in about a month. His time-off may extend to Thanksgiving or beyond if he keeps appealing.
Dallas should win tomorrow in San Francisco, but I wouldn't be surprised if the 40'ers win. They are 0-6 but have been close in their losses. Meanwhile, the Cowboys are becoming off a bye after losing two straight home games. It will be interesting to see how Dallas reacts.
As long as the Birds take care of business on Monday night vs the Redskins, who cares about the Cowboys?
