CHIRPING BIRDS- EAGLES ACQUIRE STUD RB AJAYI FROM MIAMI

GM Howie Rossman did it again, trading for stud running back Jay Ajayi form Miami for a fourth-round draft pick.

Ajayi ran for over 1,200 yards last season. He also gives the Birds a better blocking back and another weapon for Carson Wentz. The powerful tandem of LaGarrette Blount and Ajayi at running back, along with the potent passing games, gives the Birds a great offense.

I wouldn't be surprised if Rossman isn't done yet, with depth a offensive line and linebacker still priorities. And there's still talk of WR Calvin Johnson coming out of retirement to join the Birds' receiving corps.

I love their aggressiveness and the fact, at 7-1, the Eagles want to go for more than just an NFC East crown, but are looking deep into the playoffs. Running the ball in the cold and potentially bad weather of a Philadelphia January could be key for Philly's fortunes.

Give Rossman and owner Jeffery Lurie credit for seizing the moment and going for it. The Eagles still have two fourth-rounders next spring, so they didn't give up the farm for Ajayi, who is still young.

A great deal for the Eagles which all fans should applaud, as the excitement grows and dreams of the Super Bowl become more real.
