* Looks like guard No. i pick Markelle Fultz will start the year coming off the bench.
No matter how you spin it, that;s got to be disappointing for Sixer management and the fans. He's the No. 1 overall selection. The Sixers could've taken Lonzo Ball or Jayson Tatum. Instead they took Fultz, with hopes he could be their point guard and run their offense.
Fultz has been injured since they signed him, and now he's got nagging knee and shoulder issues. The NBA is one league where first round draft choices are expected to step right in and play.I'm sure, if healthy, Fultz will play a great deal this winter. He will probably recapture his starting point guard spot before long. He is their point guard of the future.
But it has to be a bummer not to see Fultz flourish. I was looking forward to seeing the big, young 3- Embiid, Simmons and Fultz play and grow together. And it may still happen.
The Sixers second unit should be a strong one, with Fultz and Saric coming off the bench. I'm sort of getting sick of all the injury stuff. When is this Sixer team going to play together, and for extended minutes?
When healthy, Embiid and Simmons have shown flashes of brilliance this pre-season. Hopefully that comes into full force this Wednesday, when Philly opens the season at Washington vs the Wizards,
I'm excited about the team in 2017-18 and beyond, but also skeptical, taking a wait-and-see approach. Fultz' situation just makes it even more cloudy.I'd rather believe it when I see it, not just "trust the process'.

The baseball playoffs resume tonight at Yankee Stadium as the Yanks try to climb out of an 0-2 hole and face the young and exciting Houston Astros. Houston just needs a split in New York to finish the series and go on to the World Series with a win back home ii Texas.
The Yanks have been digging out of holes all post-season. They came back from an 0-2 deficit to oust the Cleveland Indians from the AL playoffs, winning Game 5 in Cleveland. So, they are more than capable of coming back. I don't think they will The Astros are too good, too hungry.
Meanwhile, the Dodgers won both games in LA, the second game in walk-out fashion, thanks to a Justin Turner homer. .The Cubs will be tougher to kick out of the playoffs. They still seem hungry. They are experienced and know how to win. It wouldn't surprise me a tall to see the Cubbies take both games at Wrigley Field and send the series back to Dodger Stadium, tied 2-2.
I still have Los Angeles winning it all.
