Everything says Carolina Panthers in tomorrow night's game. They are at home, coming off a big road victory in Detroit. The Eagles are without OT Lane Johnson, who suffered a concussion last Sunday in the win over Arizona. The Birds are on the road on a short week. Among other reasons...
Still, somehow, someway, I think the Eagles win.
Maybe I'm a homer. But the Eagles arr playing so well right now. Yes, their secondary is still depleted. yes, they will be without RB Wendell Smallwood again. Fletcher Cox may be back, which is big. Cam Newton and Carolina are playing well.
Doesn't Carolina have to lose a home game this year? They have a great defense. It will be harder this week for Philly to run the ball. Turnovers, as always, will be key.
No one is giving the Eagles a chance, yet Vegas has the line set at Carolina favored by 3 points ( down form 3 1/2). A home team gets 3 points just for being home. If that's the case, then Vegas feels the Birds and Panthers are dead-even.
With a win, Philadelphia would go to 5-1 and take a stranglehold on NFC East. They have 11 days off to rest fora Monday night showdown with the Redskins at the Linc.
The Carolina game is big because it's a conference game, which comes into play as a tie-breaker when playoff time rolls around.
A loss wouldn't be devastating. 4-2 still gets you first place in the division, with Dallas off, the Giants struggling at Denver, and Washington coming off a by It's an expected defeat. No surprise if the Eagles don't win. The pressure is on the Panthers to hold serve in Carolina.
The road team has won 4 of 5 Thursday night games this season. This could be a playoff preview.
Somehow, the Eagles win, 20-17. Logic says Carolina 31-13. The hell with logic, at least for this week.
