PHILLIES PHODDER

* Why is it taking  inept Phillies GM Matt Klentak so long to find a manager?

Yesterday, the Red Sox hired Joey Cora as their new manager. The Tigers inked Ron Gardenhire as their new skipper. Both solid signings. Meanwhile, the Phils bring in Klentak ex-flunkies, guys he went to college with, no-name losers who make Pete Mackanin look good.

Does Klentak know what the hell he is doing?  I have no faith in him. it scares me thinking that equally- delusional Andy MacPhail has put the Phillies' future in this Klentak's geek, unexperienced hands.

I'm willing to give Klentak a chance. Hopefully  he makes wise trades this off-season Hopefully the organization finally spends some  smart  money in free agency.

I just don't feel good about Klnetak. Never have.

Klentak can do a few things to help me feel more confident about his leadership:

* Give Mark McGuire an interview

. Interview the ex-slugger for the manager position. Think out of the box. McGuire would stress the home run in Citizens Bank park and have a great influence  on Rhys Hoskins.

* Sign Jayson Werth

Sign the ex-Phillie. I don't care about the money, as long as Werth doesn't take away significant playing time from the young outfield of Altherr, Herrera and Williams. Werth would bring a veteran leadership and stability to the young clubhouse. He still plays hard, has pop and a strong arm. The Phils used a 4-man outfield well last summer. Plus, Werth would give you a consistent bat and power off the bench.

*Trade Tommy Joseph

Let Hoskins play first base full-time. Don't jerk him around as the organization did Darin Ruf. Get pitching back for Joseph, who is still a young, good player, but without a position on the Phillies.

*Sign/trade for a good pitcher or two.

Not a Jerome Williams-type but a good hurler, such as Yu Darvish or Jake Arrietta. I know MacPhail isn't crazy\y about giving long-term contracts to aging pitchers, but this rotation needs a good, veteran presence. Charlie Morton could've been that ( he has turned out to be a good pitcher for Houston). One or two solid, veteran pitchers would solidify the staff and help the team to be contenders in 2018, as we wait for the power arms, such as Sixto Sanchez, to emerge from the minors in a few years.

* Bring up Scott Kingery

This won't happen until after May 1, because of service time crap, but it needs to happen early next season. Do whatever you have to do to open up second base for Kingery to man for the next 10 years. Trade Cesar Hernandez for pitching.  Look what the Yankees and Dodgers are doing with young kids.

* Continue fishing for Trout

Keep the communication lines open  with the Angels for Mike Trout. See if the Halos will be willing to part with him soon, before he hits free agency after the 2020 season. Bring Trout home. Do whatever it takes. He is the best player in baseball and only now entering his prime. Imagine Citizens Bank Park being packed again every night, watching Trout play. Imagine Trout patrolling center field and teaming with Hoskins to become a young, powerful duo and taking Philadelphia by storm.Imagine the division titles and world championships he would produce.   Getting Trout would be the ultimate. Don't stop trying until you succeed.

It's your time to shine, Matt Klentak. Show me something!
