The Eagles finally play the Washington Redskins tonight. Seems like forever since they played a football game. Hopefully the Birds are rested and not rusty.
Washington will be a desperate team, not wanting to get swept by Philadelphia, not wanting to drop further behind in the NFC East.
The Redskins play without key players Jonathan Allen and Josh Norman. The crowd at the Linc tonight will be wild on a balmy Autumn evening. The fans can revel in glory, being the best team in football with a 5-1 record.
As always, getting off to a fast start is critical. Keep the crowd in the game. Turnovers will be big as well. Don't give the "Skins a short field. Don't let their defense score. Make Washington earn their yards and their points.
Get a consistent pass rush on QB Kirk Cousins. Force him into mistakes. Step on their throat and don't give them hope.
Winning tonight would make the Eagles 6-1, with very winnable home games with winless San Francisco and suddenly putrid Denver upcoming. Prove to the national media you are real. Sweep Washington, go 3-0 in the division and continue to collect victories, with a bye and home field advantage your goal in the playoff
.Be relentless, as you were two weeks ago against Arizona. Be aggressive but not stupid. Make the Linc a tough place to play for the opposition. Give yourself a cushion in the division in preparation for the final stretch in December. Take control of the conference and don't let-up.
Most fans and media think it will be a close game, maybe down to the final minutes. I don't . I think the Birds win comfortably. Sure, it's a bitter division rivalry game, and Washington ( aside from the opener this year) has dominated recently against Pihlly. But this is a different Eagles team. They are playing too well to blow it.
Make the final score Eagles 31 Redskins 17
