The Washington Nationals saved themselves last night, rallying to beat the Cubs in game 2 of their National league division series, and tying the series 1-1. A loss would've put the Nats behind 0-2, losing both games at home, plus solidified their status of bi-time chokers in the post-season.
Washington is still behind the eight-ball, needing to split at Wrigley Field. Bryce Harper and Ryan Zimmerman came up big and rescued the team.
Washington 's window is closing. Harper will likely flee for free agency after the 2018 season. Players like Zimmerman and Jayson Werth aren't getting any younger. The Nats dominate NL East all summer, then fail in the post-season. They need this October to be different. Last night's comeback win went a long way to changing their fortune.
The Dodgers won both games in Los Angeles, taking control of their division series against the Diamondbacks. Arizona was the surging team coming into the playoff. But their big hitters so far haven't responded,Aside form last night, when star Paul Goldshmidt hit a two-run first inning homer, their big hitters have done little.
And even though rookie Cody Bellinger hasn't hit so far, others in the Dodger line-up have stepped up.
Now LA goes to Arizona and tries to move on to the championship series.

The Flyers won again on the West Coast, this time taking an overtime victory in Anaheim, 3-2. They are 2-1 so far on this opening trip, with one game to go in Nashville before coming home for five straight home games. A win agains the Prredators would give the Flyers six points on the trip, a great start out of the gate against tough competition on the road.
Wayne Simmonds was again the hero, scoring the winning goal in overtime vs. the Ducks. He has four goals in only three games this season.
The home schedule isn't easy either, with the Capitols, Preds, Ducks and Oilers on the horizon. The Flyers are notorious for getting off to slow starts, so it's refreshing to see them come out so strong and make other teams try to catch them for a change.
