PHILLY SPORTS CORNER- PHILLIES

- Siranthony Dominguez is burned out. That's why it was important for Klentak to get another closer at the trade deadline. He's not the same pitcher as he was earlier in the season.

- Kapler over-managed last night's loss. He wouldn't allow Arrieta to finish his shut-out. He took out Hoskins, Cabrera and Williams late In the game, then ran out of players in the 14th inning.

- With the loss, the Phillies wasted a super pitching effort by Arrieta, and blew a chance tog ain on both the idle  Nats and Braves. The team is now a game up in NL East.

- The Phils usually bounce back after a tough  loss. Bad match-up tonight. Pivetta vs. Grienke. Tomorrow the Diamondbacks throw Patrick Corbin.

- The game was lost in the top of the 9th inning. Runners on 1st and 3rd, no outs. Alfaro swings too hard again, doesn't put the ball in ball, and strikes out. Knapp grounds into a double play. They couldn't tack on and it cost them.

- Hernandez is now hitting around .260. He struck out 4 times last night. He isn't a tablesetter. that's why the batting order is flawed. When Kingery or Quinn are playing they should be hitting lead-off. Santana is too passive to it clean-up. I get it that Hoskins gets more at-bats in the No. 2 slot 6th.

- Atlanta and Washington start a big 4-game series tonight. The Phils just need to take care of business on the West coast and let the Nationals and Braves beat up on each other.

- I really want Dylan Cozens to succeed. After being named International League Player of the Week recently, he struck out again last night. He seems over-matched in the big leagues. Is he nothing but a career minor leaguer?

-Is it too late to get a true closer off the waiver wire in August? What about Inglesias from Cincinnati?
