IN MY LIFE- MOVIE REVIEW- LEAVE NO TRACE

I saw a tremendous little film at the beautiful Colonial Theater in Phoenixville yesterday afternoon, a private screening for me and Holly. no one else was in the smaller theater a tthe Colonial.

The movie was called "Leave No Trace." I found it by listening to Ray Didinger over the weekend, who had seem the film and highly recommended it. I checked Rotten Tomatoes and the movie got an almost unheard of 100% rating.

It's about a father and 13-year-old daughter living in the woods. He is a war veteran with PTSD. That's basically the story, mow they are living off the grid.

They are living in a park, which is illegal in Portland, Oregon. The authorities force them out. Someone reads about the homeless duo and offer the father a job on a Christmas tree farm and a house to live in.

The father is played by Ben Foster and the daughter is a marvel in Thomasin McKenzie. Both have a certain chemistry together. Both could be nominated for Academy Awards early next year.

Tom ( Thomasin) starts to make friends and likes living in civilization. Her dad doesn't and soon they bolt and head for Washington State, fearing that Social Services and the authorities ar eon their trails again.

They end up in the forest again, but this time with a group of RV settlers. When the dad injures his leg in the woods and needs time to recouperate, Tom again loves the new lifestyle, with people around her.

When the father again gets restless and longs to be isolated again, the daughter must make a difficult choice- stya in a place she loves or follow her dad, knowing if she doesn't she mad enever see him again.

A powerful story for sure, and one that is so realistic, it could be really happening out there. It's about human kindness as well. And it's also about hopelessness and hopefulness.

Please check it out while it is still in theaters.
