PHILLY SPORTS CORNER- PHILLIES, SIXERS, FLYERS

- I got a feeling the Phillies will never be out of a game this season. Last season, if the team got behind you could pretty much count them out. This early season you know they will socre..and score a lot!

The Phils are 2-0 for the first time since 2011 ( when they won over 100 games) after a thrilling comeback win on Saturday over Atlanta. The Phils are exciting to watch as they crushed three more home runs, including Bryce Harper's first Phillie homer. Harper's shot landed into the right field upper deck, an estimated 465 feet.

Starter Nick Pivetta had a shaky outing. The young guys who make up the back-end of the rotation- namely Pivetta, Eflin and Valasquez- must step up. The hitting should keep the starters in games longer and erase some mistakes.

I didn't mind two Phillies getting thrown out  early in the game. Jean Segura was thrown out trying to move up to third base on a sacrifice fly to left field- a stupid move. He was a;ready in scoring position. Never make the  last out at third. But I do like the aggressiveness on the basepaths. I want to see the club steal and move runners along the bases, rather then wait for three-run homers.

Maybe it was a blessing in disguise that Franco wasn't traded to San Diego after all. He is off to a hot start, smashing a pair of homers and driving in five runs Hernandez is chipping in with key hits already. And catcher Realmuto is proving to be a major upgrade both offensively and defensively.  It will take time for the pitcihng to solidify. The Phillies are 2-0 already and one has a feeling the best is yet to come.

Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN for the first time at Citizens Bank Park since 2011. Jake Arrieta goes tonight against another Braves rookie. A sweep would be nice before the team heads to Washington for a quick two-game series against the Nationals.

- The Sixers won in Minnesota on Saturday night. Joel Embiid sat out and will be out the rest of this road trip. Games this week at the Bulls and at the Hawks should be winnable, but with Embiid, the 76ers were shocked recently in Atlana by the lowly Hawks. I need them to somehow lose two more games to win a pre-season wager.

- The Flyers were offically elinimated from playoff contention with their road loss in Carolina. Should the squad finally trade Claude Giroux and start looking to the future?
