BASEBALL TRIVIA

Team History

Name the team with five pitchers who won a majority of their 300-career victories with the team.

A. Cubs
B. Braves
C. Cardinals
D. Phillies
E. Giants

Answer: B

Amazingly, the braves lay claim to five such hurlers. The deceptive lefty Warren Spahn won 356 of his 363 games with the Boston and Milwaukee Braves, from 1942 through 1964 ( with three years lost to military service).

Kid Nichols notched 329 of his 361 wins for the Boston Beaneaters between 1890 and 1901.

Phil Niekro won 268 of his 318 games with the Milwaukee and Atlanta Braves, from 1964 through 1983.

Tom Glavine won 244 of his 305 games with Atlanta, from 1987 through 2002 ( and again briefly in 2008).

Greg Maddux notched 194 of his 355 victories in his 11 years with Atlanta, from 1993 through 2003.
