IDOL CHATTER

- Another strong night of American Idol, including the possible winner of the competition..

- Ashley Hess. Remember the name. I have a funny feeling about her. She may win American Idol this season. I feel about her as I did when I first saw Carrie Underwood.

Ashley is 27, a pretty blond who was a dental hygienist. She sings like she talks. Her voice is clear, not strained. She plays effortlessly at the piano. She seems modest and awestruck, not slick and show biz. Natural. I think she can win.

-Another gorgeous contestant ( there are more hot girls this season than in other years) is named Evelyn. High-cheek bones, silky-smooth voice. Evelyn is the total packet as well. The girl who has two moms- her "egg donor" mom and her real mother. She can sing!

The 19-year-old sexy girl who seems older. Luke faked fainting by her. She won't win but she does possess a certain quality. The girl who has "tight curls" and sings erratically  but has something about her. The Country kid who's mom walked away when he was nine- very raw, unploished voice, yet has potential. The heavyset male nurse who sounds like the lead singer from Rascal Flatts won't win.

Very interesting contestants Sunday night. Plus they showed more bad auditions than ever this season.

More Idol tonight, yes Monday night! The last of the auditions, including Philadelphia. The annoying Caty Turner stops by. Hopefully the judges don't talk her into auditioning again.

Next week starts Hollywood Week. Let's hope it's shorter this time, with more live episodes down the road. Hollywood should be interesting as I can think of at least five legitimate singers who can win. Less gimmicky singers this year. Same human interest, sappy stories, but good, quality talent.

The last touching story on Sunday night was real- the young ( 27) widow who tearfully sang for her late young husband. she can go far.

As always, people get to Hollywood then fizzle-out. Maybe nerves get to them, or they just weren't good enough to begin with, but Hollywood seems to separate the talent from the wannabes.
