PHILLY SPORTS CORNER- SIXERS, PHILLIES

- Last season the Sixers won their last 16 regular season games in a row and went into the playoffs on a high. This year they have lost their last three games with three games to play. Good for me ( I won my bet, taking the under in win totals). bad for the team and especially lame Coach Brett Brown.

The Sixers play on defense at all. Milwaukee scored 46 in the 4th quarter last night and beat Philadelphia 128-122. No surprise that the Bucks were victorious. They have the best club in the NBA, plus they got revenge for their home loss to the Sixers last month.

I have said a million times before, both her eon the blog and on Twitter, that the Sixers won't go anywhere with Brown as head coach. He has failed to inspire his young players and is poor at tactics in close games.

I see the 76ers maybe winning one round in the post-season. I can't see them beating Toronto, Milwaukee or even Boston in the playoffs. Not the way they are playing now.

- The Phillies were off last night before starting a weekend series at home vs the dreaded Minnesota Twins. Actually, the Twins are 4-1, like the Phils, and are playing well early. Nice for team President Andy MacPhail, who guided  Minnesota to a world championship at one time. The Phils will go with Pivetta, Arrieta and Eflin over the weekend. Chances are tonight's game may be rained out. Since the Twins only come to Citizens Bank Park once, expect a Saturday day/night doubleheader if tonight's game is washed away.

The drumbeat continues for free agent closer Craig Kimbrel, who remains on the market. Sign him today and maybe he can start helping your bullpen next week, after a short rehab assignment. The team needs a hammer, a closer to lock down wins. Getting Kimbrel slides the rest of the bullpen down a notch, so that Domiguez becomes a set-up guy, and relievers like Robertson. Neshek, Neris and Morgan are available in the 7th inning.

The front office didn't spend all that money on free agents like Bryce Harper  to see the bullpen blow games in the end.
