IDOL CHATTER- DUOS WEEK

- American Idol Duos Week started Sunday night. I pretty much guessed  the three contestants who would be thrown off. Three more go tonight after ten more performances with established stars.

- Of all the artists last night, Pat Benatar was the best. She can still belt. Someone named Ellie King was the worst. I never heard of her before but she- and the Idol contestant she was hooked with- were awful. He first wanted "Proud Mary" to be slowed down in tempo, then bitched about the selection of the song overall. In the end he messed up the song, jumping in too quickly when he should not have been singing. Like forgetting the lyrics, he broke a cardinal rule and was given the ax.

Like I have written before.Duo Week is a waste of time. It only serves to promote the established artist promote their newest CD or tour. Yes, it shows what a younger singer can do with a more established star, but it's still useless and eats up another week of competition. I would rather see more live shows where America- not the judges- get to vote.

My favorite, Ashley Hess, held her own with Jason Mraz. She can win it all but will she?

The overall favorites sing tonight- people like Alejandro and the gay preacher's son, and the terrible Eddie Island.

- A sidelight of last night was Katy Perry and her dress. She showed a lot of leg but she also almost showed too much breast. Her girls kept popping out of her low-cut top, to the point that she was forced to sit a certain way- facing right at Lionel Richie, but speaking with her head turned to the left- to keep them in. I know she's got a great body, but if she knows she can't stay dressed why does she wear she revealing clothes?

Tonight is Duos Part Two and next week is finally the live shows where America votes. We will see tonight who are the Final 14 to enter the live stage and sing for the following five weeks for America.
