On this date in 1932, the Chicago Bears defeated the visiting Portsmouth (Ohio) Spartans, 9-0, to decide the NFL's regular season champion. The game was played one year before the first league championship game. It was contested on an 80-yard dirt field inside Chicago Stadium because Wrigley Field was filled with snow.
