-Sunday Night Football..Eagles-Cowboys..deja vu from one month ago, when the Eagles played Dallas on SNF at Lincoln Financial Field. I was at that game, a bitter disappointment as Dallas won. Since then the Cowboys have been on a lomg winning streak, going 7-5 and in first place in NFC East. Philly is 6-6 and has won it's last two games, trying to climb back into playoff contention.
The Birds have revenge and are getting healthier. Dallas has confidence, knowing they can more or less end the Eagles' season, just as the Eagles had the opportunity to put the Cowboys down for good a month ago. Now Dallas has life. If Dallas can win a big prime-time game on the road, why can't the defending Super Bowl champs?
Linebacker Krugier-Hill made the stupid comment this week that "Dallas always chokes." That may be true, but the Birds don't need to give Dallas any extra motivation. Yes, the Eagles have revenge for what happened a month ago. But Dallas has revenge for last season.
As always, turnovers and penalties will be key> The Eagles got off to a fast start on Monday night, scoring an early touchdown in beating Washington. Making Dallas play from behind isn't a bad idea.
The Eagles' defense needs to stop the Dallas running game. A month ago Dallas RB Zeke Elliot ran all over the Birds, controlling the ball and opening up the cowboys' passing game.
I hate to think of Dallas owner Jerry Jones celebrating again on national TV. Hopefully Dallas is full of themselves after a huge win against New Orleans. Dallas does have extra rest after the Thursday night Saints game.
A month ago no one gave the cowboys a chance. A month later and most so-called football experts have Dallas winning Sunday night.
Philadelphia needs the game more. If they win they go 7-6 and tie Dallas. Tough games vs the Rams and Texans await. Dallas has the easier schedule down the stretch. The cowboys can lose and still make the playoffs, be it winning the division or grabbing a wild card spot.
Dallas has home field advantage, revenge for last season and the Hill remark, and have 10 days rest. The Eagles have revenge for a month ago, pride for being champions, and know they can win in Dallas. So who will win?
Maybe I'm a homer but I can't see Dallas beating the Eagles twice. At least the Birds make it interesting for another week, winning 20-17.
