IN MY LIFE- REMEMBERING JOHN LENNON

Today is 38 years since John Lennon was killed.

I love the Beatles. I think of John fondly today.

Hard to believe it's 38 years. Time flies.

I remember I was watching Monday Night Football. Howard Cosell broke the news that John was shot and had died. I was also on my CB radio and related the news to a friend. We were both shocked.

If John had been sick, well you could prepare yourself. But it was so sudden, when john was still so young., with so much of life ahead. That's why it was so hard to believe.

That night I tried to get all the information I could. It was frustrating, not knowing all the details. Back then, there was no internet or social media. Cable-TV was in its infancy. Maybe channels like CNN existed but I didn't have it. I turned on the radio and listened for the news for hours. Switching to the music stations, they all seemed to be playing Beatles music. It was surreal.

I often think about John and what life would've been like if he had lived. Not only the music he would've made, but John the activist and John the peace-maker in this crazy world.

As a Beatles fan, I can't help but think what if The Beatles had reunited? Imagine the tours, the filled stadiums and arenas, the music.

John, gone way too soon, will never grow old. In that way he will live forever. At least we do have the music and the memories.

Rest in peace, John.
