Ever wonder what to say or do when visiting an older loved one, either in a nursing home setting, assistive living, or even at home or in your neighborhood? Worry about running out of things to say? Intimidated by dementia? Frustrated because he/she can't recall past visits? I can show you how to ease your fears and make your visits more meaningful!
The presentation includes:
- Viewing of award-winning film, "Peege"
- Discussion and Questions
- My `0 tips for terrific visits
- Brochures and information.
RSVP: Online on the Adult Events Calendar at www.phoenixvillelibrary.org or by calling 610-933-3013 X 132.
As a social worker for over 30 years working in nursing homes, to a family member visiting loved ones over the years, to receiving visits myself, I can relate to potential loneliness and how important visits from family and friends really are to the health and well-being of someone who is ill or confined.
This topic has been important to me for many years, as my residents would often wonder why they did not receive more visits, or families would also come to me, seeking advice how to make their visits more meaningful, fun and memorable. So, I devised this presentation with the goal of helping more families/friends connect, bond and feel at ease during these special moments.
Thank you. I look forward to seeing you there on December 10th!
