EAGLES- REDSKINS- MY PICK

Monday Night Football at Lincoln Financial Field... a mild December night..two division rivals playing for first place. Frenzied fans, three weeks before Christmas Eve. That will be the scene soon as the Eagles play  Washington.

If Dallas loses tonight vs New Orleans, Monday's game will be for first place in NFC East. The defending Super Bowl champs face the 6-5 Redskins. The Eagles need to win their three remaining division games. Playing the Rams in Los Angeles will be tough. So will playing hot Houston at the Linc.

The Birds don't deserve to make the playoffs if they can't beat QB Colt McCoy in a prime-time game. Then again, they lost a key Sunday Night game recently to Dallas, taking the Cowboys off life-support.

As always, turnovers will be key, as will penalties. QB Carson Wentz needs to step up again. Running the ball will be big, as we saw last week vs the Giants. Using Adams, Clement and Smallwood  will control the ball and the clock. Hopefully a few of the injured, especially in the secondary, will return.

Getting off to a fast start would be a welcome change for the Eagles. Even last week they were down 19-3 at one point to New York. Starting out 14-0 over Washington would force McCoy to throw the ball. The Philly defensive line could t-off on McCoy. Force turnovers. Maybe the reason why the Eagles are down in turnover sthis season is because they are always behind and seemingly never put pressure on the opposition.

If ever the Eagles needed a big win to ride the momentum into Dallas next Sunday night, it's this game. A blow-out would send a  message to Dallas and the rest of the NFC that the champs intend to at least go down fighting.
