On this date in 1920, Boston Red Sox owner Harry Frazee announced the sale of pitcher George Herman Ruth to the Yankees for $125,000. Two years earlier, 'The Babe" had won his first home run crown ( his 11 tied Tilly Walker) and was the winning pitcher of game four of the World Series (Boston's fourth title in seven years). Ruth fashioned a 5-0 pitching mark, hit 659 home runs, and led the Yankees to seven pennants and four World Series victories for New York before he returned to Boston in 1935 as a Brave.
