* Happy Birthday, Nick Foles! Nick celebrated his 29th birthday yesterday. But I'm sure he will really celebrate tonight if/when the Birds win the NFC Championship Game against Minnesota.
* The clueless jackasses on Good Morning America Weekend this morning are rooting for the Vikings. First, bimbo anchor Paula Farris said "You gotta root for Minnesota since they have never won a Super Bowl before."
Duh? What about the Eagles? Like we have won six Super Bowls already? What an idiot.
Next they had some jerk named Phil Realy from ESPN give his prediction. He not only picked the Vikings, because of "the momentum form last week", but he then mocked all Eagle fans by doing a poor imitation of Rocky Balboa saying "Yo, Adrian!" Then he mumbled something stupid about the dog masks and it "not being safe around Philly fans."
Classic ESPN. Lazy journalism. Always drawing on either Santa Claus and snowballs or Rocky or the so-called hooligan fans.
Another reason and motivation for the Birds to win tonight. These national people have no clue about Philadelphia, its fans and its sports traditions. Is it jealousy that they don't have the flavor we do? Or is it the New York-elitism, looking down on Philly as a second class city?
Whatever. I didn't hear them mocking Minnesota. Only Philadelphia. What a joke. Go Eagles!
* So, after waiting all week, championship game-day is finally here. As the sun rose this morning, there was a special feeling that this day would be memorable, a day that would last forever, the day the Eagles go to the Super Bowl, on their way to win their first Super bowl title.
People started tail-gating at 6 a.m. The bar-b-ques will be fired up on such a mild January afternoon, the beer will flow and the excitement will build right up until kickoff.
The stirring National Anthem, as Challenger the Bald Eagle swoops around the stadium. The fireworks. The Rocky-style music. The player introductions. The deafening noise of the crowd as the players take the field at the Linc and the game finally begins.
Finally, after the Eagles win, the celebrations. The trophy presentation on the field. Everyone turns their focus to the Super bowl in Minneapolis in two weeks. As the game ends we will know who the birds will face- Jacksonville or New England.Crowds will be going crazy inside the stadium and on the streets of Philadelphia. The usual warnings about fans partying too much will be issued and ignored. Just a sampling of what a victory Super Bowl parade down Broad Street will be like.
It should be a good day.

The Flyers beat the Devils yesterday afternoon, 3-1, at the Wells Fargo Center. The Orange and Black have now won 6 of 7 games, inching closer to the final playoff spot in their conference. The Flyers play at Washington this afternoon at 1:00.

Meanwhile, the Sixers completed the local sweep and a long day at the Center by beating the Milwaukee Bucks. The 76'ers also move toward the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. They travel to Memphis on Monday night to take on the Grizzlies.
Hopefully the momentum of Saturday's pair of wins carries over tonight for the Eagles.
