Campy
"I never want to quit playing ball. They'll have to cut this uniform off of me to get me out of it."
- Roy Campanella
Sixty years ago tonight, popular Brooklyn Dodger catcher Roy Campanella was involved in an early-morning auto accident on Long Island while returning home from the liquor store that he operated during baseball's off-season. The accident left "Campy" paralyzed from his neck down and brought to an end the three-time NL MVP's career.
