"Keep matriculatin' the ball down the field, boys..."

- Hank Stram

On this date in 1970, the Kansas City Chiefs, encouraged by colorful head coach Hank Stram, extended the underdog AFL's championship hold on the strength of league standouts Lenny Dawson, Otis Taylor, Willie Lanier, Buck Buchanan, and Jan Stenerud. Stram's "65-toss power trap" popped open a methodical 23-7 victory over the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl IV. (Tulane Stadium, New Orleans).
