PHILLY SPORTS CORNER- FLYERS, EAGLES

* The Flyers exploded with four goals in the second period to beat the New York Islanders, 6-4 last night. The Orange and Black play two home games this weekend, an afternoon tilt vs the St. Louis Blues ( I'll be at the game) and  Sunday night against Buffalo.

*********************************************************************

* Speaking of Buffalo, the Bills are the feel-good story  of the postseason. After 17 years, the Bills are in the playoffs. There are Eagle connections too: head coach Sean McDermott is a former Eagle coach, and running back LeSean McCoy is the Eagles' all-time leading rusher.

I'm rooting for Buffalo to upset Jacksonville this weekend.

* I was shut-out for playoff tickets. I called the Eagles' ticket office at exactly 10: 00 a.m. I got through, and was on hold until 10:10, when someone finally answered to say they were sold-out.

I looked online and found a pair of accessible tickets available- for more then double face value.

It's cool to try and make a profit selling tickets, but because handicapped accessible seats are so limited, it sucks that so-called fans, who really aren't football fans, snatch-up these precious tickets, only to re-sell them.

I'll try again for the NFC Championship game in a few weeks.

* I'll make my Eagles' playoff prediction next week, but I'm beginning to think, no matter if it's the Saints, Panthers or Falcons, the Birds have a great chance to win.The colder weather the better, along with 67,000 screaming fans, I can see the Birds coming out all pumped-up,e specially the defense, forcing turnovers and cruising on pure emotion into the championship game.

We could know as soon as late Saturday night who Philly will be playing on January 13. If Atlanta upsets the Rams, it will be the Falcons. If Los Angeles wins, we have to wait until the late game on Sunday, when New Orleans faces Carolina for the right to visit the Linc.
