PHILLY SPORTS CORNER- PHILLIES, FLYERS

It was a weekend of chaos on social media regarding Bryce Harper and the Phillies. "Things are heating up.." "Is today the day?" Just some of the rumors and headlines causing excitement and clicks. One item mentioned that the Phillies ordered all of their employees- from ticket sales to Public Relations- to work today (a scheduled day off for President's Day). Why?

Writers shot this notion down of Harper signing with the team today.Everyone wants to be someone, the one to break the news.

I'm sick and tired of all the speculation. Who do you believe? I'll see it when I believe it. I can only imagine the excitement when Harper does sign. Tickets will be sold, Harper jerseys will fly off the rack.

In a way, despite the frustration, all of this Harper/Machado talk does keep the Phillies alive, even as spring training  is just underway.  The first Grapefruit game is Friday against Tampa Bay. The initial game in Clearwater at Bright House Field is Saturday vs the Pirates.

- The Flyers stay red-hot, blowing a four-goal lead on Saturday afternoon but winning in overtime, then defeating the Red Wings again last night in Detroit, 3-1. The Orange and Black are still six points out of the final wild card slot. Rookie Carter Hart won the back-to-back games over Detroit.
