Reese, the Dodgers' Hall of Fame shortstop, played on all six of Brooklyn's World Series losses to the Yankees, which included 1941, 1947, 1949, 1952, 1953, and 1956.

Howard's Yankee career began in 1955, the year they first lost to the Dodgers. They Yankees also lost the Series in 1957 (Braves), 1960 (Pirates), 1963 (Dodgers), and 1964 (Cardinals). In 1967 Howard played for Boston when they lost to St. Louis.
