PHILLY SPORTS CORNER- SIXERS, FLYERS

Joel Embiid had a monster game last night agains the Lakers, - 46 points, 15 rebounds, 7 blocks and 7 assists. Incredible.

Maybe he was extra-motivated playing in LA? Maybe the challenge of playing against Lonzo Ball ( who only shot 1 for 9 and sat tn the bench the entire 4th quarter)spurred him onto greatness?

Whatever the reason, Embiid had a monster game, a taste of what is possible down the road. Most importantly, the Sixers won 115-109, taking 3 out of 5 on their west coast swing ( as I predicted).

Now the Sixers come home fora Saturday night big challenge against the defending world champion Golden State Warriors, who just defeated Philly last Saturday night. Beating the Warriors would further solidify the fact that the Sixers are to be taken seriously.

Golden State has a big game tonight first, playing at Boston, who have won 13 games in a row.

Ben Simmons is also playing great. Between Embiid and Simmons the 76'ers have two transitional players. Sure, they failed on Okafor and Noel. But they did hit on Saric and Civington. Reddick brings a veteran shooter to the mix.  They are a fun team to watch, and it shapes up to be an exciting season ahead.

I'll be a tthe Golden State game Saturday night. It's my first Sixers game in years, and should be an electric atmosphere at the Center.

* The Flyers play the Jets in Winnipeg tonight, hoping to score a goal. They have been shut-out two games in a row, five shut-outs total in this early season, the most in the NHL.

I'll be at the Flyers game Saturday as well, as they take on the Flames in the afternoon. I've added on a Santa Sack game on Sat. Jan. 6 against the St. Louis Blues. Hopefully the Flyers get t in gear by then.
