CHIRPING BIRDS- EAGLES VS DENVER-THE PICK
I'm perfect picking Eagles games this season, so here goes my breakdown of Philly and Denver this Sunday at the Linc.
I'll be there on Sunday afternoon at 1:00. The game was in danger of being flexed until the Broncos hit a recent slide, losing three games in a row. Denver comes off a 20-10 loss Monday night at Kansas City. The Broncos announced today they are changing quarterbacks. starting Brock Osweiler.
When I got the tickets to this upcoming game, I was worried it may be an eagle loss. After all, Denver is Denver, only two years removed from a Super Bowl championship, still with great defense and Von Miller.
But the Orange Crush is no more, and after a good start to the 2017 season, including a thrashing of Dallas earlier in the season, Denver has collapsed, with a dreadful , shocking loss to the woeful New York Giants at home, a loss to the Chargers and then to the mighty Chiefs.
he Broncos aren't to be taken lightly. At 3-4 they are still in the hunt in AFC West and for a wild card berth. But confusion reigns there, and it all starts at quarterback.
Meanwhile, the Eagles are playing great football. This is the third game of a three-game home stand before the Birds go on their bye week. They would love nothing better than to go 8-1 to end their first half and get prepared for the Cowboys in Dallas on Sunday Night Football.
The Broncos are no 49'ers, so expect a closer game. Denver's defense will keep it tight. but if the Eagles get consistent pressure on Oswriler, they could force turnovers.
New running back jay Ajayi is expected to play somewhat. The rest of the offense is clicking. The offensive line, especially left tackle, must control Miller .
Can the Birds run the table at home? After Sunday they have the Bears at home ( a win), then Christmas night with the struggling Raiders and New Year's Eve vs the Cowboys. If Philadelphia loses on Sunday it wouldn't be the end of the world. Losing a non-conference game doesn't hurt as much. A loss would stop the Super Bowl talk, at least for a week or two, and put the Eagles at a solid 7-2.A win leaves the Birds at 8-1, with a three-game road trip on the horizon, two of the games on the west coast.
Denver isn't playing well and the Eagles are. An upset is possible, but if the Eagles didn't letdown against San Francisco I don't think Coach Pederson will let them become lax against Denver. The Eagles are a hungry, motivated team, and home victories are precious in the NFL.
My pick is Eagles 23 Broncos 17
