* The Flyers continue to struggle, giving up a game-tying goal to Winnipeg with 49 seconds left in the third period. The Jets beat the Orange and Black in a shoot-out, which the Flyers hardly ever do well in.
So, the Flyers are in last place of their division They either can't score- leading the league with five shut-outs- and choke at the end, as they did last night in Winnipeg and earlier this season in Nashville.
I think the Flyers come home tomorrow afternoon and smoke the Calgary flames, 5-1.
* Meanwhile, the Sixers have the Golden State Warriors at home tomorrow night. The Warriors come into Philly pissed off, having blown a 17 point lead in Boston and losing to the Celtics ( who won the 14th game in a row).
Golden State rarely loses two games in a row. The Sixers seek revenge fora loss to the Warriors last week in Oakland. The Warriors have won 9 consecutive basketball games against Philadelphia. Something's gotta give.
* The Steelers crushed the Titans last night in Thursday Night Football. They are now 8-2 and running away with AFC North. For Pittsburgh, they are collecting wins to get playoff bye and the all-important home field advantage in the playoffs, especially vs New England.
Tennessee is still the best team in a weak AFC South (I still don't believe in Jacksonville). The Titans go to Indianapolis next week while the Steelers stay home to face Green Bay.
* It's starting to get cold, and we are all hyped about our 8-1 Eagles-plus it's Dallas week- and the 76'ers .are causing excitement in the city, yet yesterday I got my Phillies 6-game pack for next summer.
Here are the six baseball games I selected:
1. Mon. June 18- St. Louis Cardinals
My nephew's- birthday, plus the Cards are always a good team,e specially if they trade for Giancarlo Stanton.
2. Wed. June 27- New York Yankees
It's been several years since the Yanks came to town. Can't wait to see Aaron Judge. Better yet, somehow I got field-lever seats next to the New York dugout. The obnoxious Yankee fans will make the trip down the turnpike to make it even more fun.
3. Sat. July 21- San Diego Padres
The Padres suck but its Photo Night, which I've been to for the last three years. Nice to see the players up close, take pictures and get a few autographs.
4. Wed. July 25- Los Angeles Dodgers
A 12:35 afternoon game with the defending national League champions. Hopefully i get lucky and Clayton Kershaw pitches.
5. Wed. Aug. 15- Boston Red Sox
We saw Boston last summer, when Nick Pivetta unbelievably beat Chris Sale, 1-0. There will be tons of Red Sox fans there.
6. Sat. Sept. 1- Chicago Cubs
Hopefully this game means something for the Phillies. The Cubbies are always fun to watch, and Chicago fans try to take over the stadium.
If the Phillies are in contention i may add a game or two. Oddly, it's the first season in a while that I don't have an NL East team in the schedule. Washington should be the favorite again. The Mets are always good rivalry, and depending if they lose Stanton or not, Miami is a good attraction.
* Giancarlo Stanton won National League MVP yesterday, rightfully so, hitting 59 homers. Jose Altuve won the American League MVP award, leading the Houston Astros to their first world championship. Judge had a hell of a year, and will win the award sometime down the road. He's the next mickey Mantle. But I think the right players won the most awards in baseball in 2017.
* The Eagles face the Dallas Cowboys Sunday night. Almost everyone, even Dallas supporters, are picking the birds. That's always a dangerous sign, but the Eagles are simply the better team, knowing they can just about wrap up the NFC East .
The Cowboys are banged up, with Elliot out on suspension, and Sean Lee and Tyran Smith out with injuries. Dallas is the desperate team and the home team. They need to get off to an early lead and feed off their crowd.
Turnovers will be the key. The Philly pass rush will give the Dallas offensive line and QB Prescott fits. The Birds' offense will control the ball with a combo of Blount and Ajayi, and kill the Dallas defense down the middle with Ertz and their slot receivers.
Eagles 31 Cowboys 23.
