THIS DAY IN SPORTS HISTORY- MAY 1

"Because I believe in God and have faith in God, it doesn't mean I am immoral. It doesn't mean I am immune, as has been claimed. I am as scared as anyone of getting hurt, especially driving a Formula One car."

-  Ayrton Senna

25 years ago today, three-time world driving champion Ayrton Senna is killed when he crashes on the lead at the San Marino Grand Priz.

The day before, Formula One rookie Roland Ratzenberger of Austria is killed during practice on the same track in Bologna, Italy.
