PHILLY SPORTS CORNER- PHILLIES, SIXERS

- I hope the Phillies didn't take the lowly Kansas City Royals  lightly last night, as the Royals won the opening game of their weekend series, 5-1. The Phils are now 21-16, three games up on the Braves. Both Atlanta and the Mets picked up a game Friday night.

Jake Arrieta was awful in KC, surrendering a trio of homer runs, including two to Alex Gordan. The offense remained inconsistent, especially struggling in the sixth inning. With the bases loaded and no out, Realmuto, Herrera and Hernandez all struck out. Putting the ball in play was again an issue for the club.

Odubel Herrera is especially annoying. Two really terrible at-bats were the low lights. In the sixth Herrera swung at a high pitch that was already in the catcher's mitt.

The problem is that no one can replace Herrera in center field. Roman Quinn is still hurt. Aaron Altherr has been released. Andrew McCuthen played center while Herrera was on the Injured List. Trading Herrera in July for pitching would be ideal, if the Phillies have another center fielder to take over. Hopefully Quinn comes back and stays healthy.

Zach Eflin pitches tonight in Kansas City ( It's the first visit for the Phils to KC in over a decade) while Vince Valasquez tries to bounce back on Sunday.

- The Sixers left for Canada early on Friday, preparing for their big Game Seven tomorrow night. Who knows how the teams comes out. Will they be aggressive as they were in their victory in Game Six? Will they lay down and get destroyed in Toronto as in Game Five? Will Brett brown get fired if the 76ers lose? Will Ben Simmons be traded over the summer? Will Jimmy butler come back, signing a long-term deal?

Milwaukee awaits the winner in the Eastern Conference finals.
