THIS DAY IN SPORTS HISTORY- OCTOBER 11

Reggie vs. Rookie

In Game 2 of the 1978 World Series, Rookie Bob Welch strikes out Reggie Jackson on a full count with two outs in the ninth, dramatically preserving a memorable 4-3 Dodger victory over the Yankees.

Jackson would get revenge later in the series when his two-run "bomb"in the top of the seventh off of Welch extended the Yankees' lead to 7-2 in the Game 6 clincher.
